What should I do if my iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch is lost or stolen?

With Apple Pay, you authorise each purchase with Touch ID or your passcode. Every time you put on your Apple Watch, you need to enter your passcode to access it. These features help prevent other people from using Apple Pay on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch.

If your iPhone or iPad is lost or stolen

You can go to icloud.com/find or call our dedicated centre. This means that no further transactions can take place using Apple Pay, but you will still be able to use your debit cards and credit cards as usual in shops, online and at cash machines.

If your Apple Watch is lost or stolen

You can remove the ability to pay with your credit cards or debit cards using Apple Pay by visiting icloud.com (opens in a new window)

  1. Sign in to the Apple iCloud computing service
  2. Select 'Settings'
  3. Choose your device
  4. Remove your cards in the Apple Pay section

As with your iPhone or iPad, you will still be able to use your debit cards and credit cards as usual in shops, online and at cash machines.

If you see that 'Find My iPhone' is turned on, you can also help to keep your data secure:

  • Turn on 'Lost Mode' to lock your device and to suspend Apple Pay
  • Erase your device remotely to prevent anyone else from getting access to the data on your missing device and to remove your cards

You can also call our dedicated Apple Pay Support Team to suspend or remove your cards from Apple Pay.

Apple Pay is a secure way to pay, every transaction on your iPhone or iPad requires you to authenticate with Touch ID or your passcode. Your Apple Watch is protected by the passcode that only you know, and your passcode is required every time you put on your Apple Watch.

Your card number and identity aren't shared with the retailer, and your actual card numbers aren't stored on your device or on Apple servers.

We take security very seriously and, provided you take appropriate care, we'll offer you the same protection against fraud when you use Apple Pay, as we do for your debit and credit cards.
